Carmen graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. In 1996, she returned to her hometown, Lisbon, and was instrumental in developing the first occupational therapy program in the area. Carmen has been providing OT services in the Lisbon and surrounding area since 1996, working in a variety of patient settings including long term care, home care, inpatient hospital, and outpatient clinics working with infants through the elderly.
Carmen strives to facilitate a patient’s return to home after an illness or hospitalization, working with patients and families to adapt the home environment and obtain equipment to promote safety.
Carmen has been involved with geriatrics throughout her career and has attended several training courses related to dementia and Alzheimer’s. She recently attended “Dementia Capable Care” training course where she learned evaluation and treatment techniques for individuals with cognitive impairment related to Alzheimer’s/dementia. Carmen was certified as a LSVT BIG therapist in 2017.
Carmen, her husband Jeff, and her 4 children live in Lisbon where she is active in the community and church. She enjoys volunteering, traveling, shopping, reading, camping, and supporting her children’s numerous activities.
